25 Brands, 3 Networks: Who Really Carries Your Calls?
The logo on your bill vs. the antennas on the mountain
🎪 THE 25-BRAND ILLUSION
25 brands slug it out for your mobile francs. Aldi sells SIM cards! Lidl too! The Post, Coop and Migros are all in the ring. Looks like a royal rumble.
Physically, it's three. Every one of the 25 brands transmits over one of exactly three networks: Swisscom's, Sunrise's or Salt's. The July 2026 tale of the tape: 12 brands ride the Sunrise network (92 plans), 6 ride Salt (45 plans), 7 ride Swisscom (40 plans).
The brand picks your price. The network picks your bars. Two separate decisions, once you can see them separately. 🥸
“Only THREE?!”
🗺️ THE MAP: WHO RIDES WHAT
On the Swisscom network: Wingo, Coop Mobile, Mucho Mobile, Migros Mobile, Quickline, VTX, and Swisscom itself
On the Sunrise network: Yallo, Lebara, TalkTalk, Aldi Suisse Mobile, Swype, Spusu, Teleboy, Galaxus Mobile, Digital Republic, SASAG, SAK, and Sunrise itself
On the Salt network: GoMo, MTEL, Lidl Connect, Post Mobile, iWay, and Salt itself
Same antennas, same coverage: the tower doesn't know which logo sent the bill. (Speed tiers can differ per plan; that's printed on every card and has an article of its own.)
On MatchMyMobile, the NETWORK row on every card names whose antennas you're buying, and the providers page lines up all 25 brands by network. 📡
💸 THE OPERATOR PREMIUM, CALCULATED
Round two: what does the big logo cost versus a budget brand on the SAME network? We put each operator's cheapest unlimited plan in the ring with the cheapest unlimited riding its own antennas (sustained prices, July 2026):
- Swisscom network: blue Mobile S at CHF 71.80 vs. Mucho Mobile at CHF 17.90 → CHF 647 a year for the logo
- Sunrise network: Sunrise's cheapest unlimited at CHF 29.90 vs. Teleboy at CHF 9.90 → CHF 240 a year
- Salt network: Salt's cheapest unlimited at CHF 19.95 vs. MTEL at CHF 9.95 → CHF 120 a year
Fair is fair: the operator plans often bundle extras: shops on every corner, premium support lines, richer international options. The premium buys those. Better antennas it does not buy, because there are none for sale. 🏔️
There are only three networks: you can't buy better antennas, only pay more for the same ones.
📡 "BUT IS THE CHEAP NETWORK ANY GOOD?" THE OFFICIAL ANSWER
We compare prices; we don't measure networks. Luckily, the folks with the measuring vans do, and their scorecards agree:
- The federal regulator's page (ComCom) lists the operators' own coverage figures: all three report 99%+ population coverage: Swisscom 99% with 5G, Sunrise over 99%, Salt 99.9% across its technologies
- The independent connect network test 2026 rated all three networks "outstanding": Swisscom 983 points, Sunrise 975, Salt 972, just eleven points between first and third
- Want proof for your own address? networktest.ch is Switzerland's official measurement tool (mandated by federal law), and the federal BAKOM broadband atlas maps coverage in 100-metre squares
The officials' verdict: network quality in Switzerland is a solved problem. Price is not. 🇨🇭
🏆 PICK THE NETWORK, THEN THE CHEAPEST BRAND ON IT
The referee's decision, in three moves:
1. Pick whose antennas you want. Unsure? Check home and commute on the operators' coverage maps or the official atlas
2. Open the provider overview: all 25 brands, grouped by the network they ride
3. Buy the cheapest brand on your chosen network: same towers, smaller bill
Torn between two brands? The head-to-head pages (like Salt vs. Wingo) settle it stat by stat.
Final whistle: the network war has three armies. The price war has 25, and that one you can win. 🏁
“Same antennas!”
